Providing computers with the ability to "see" is the subject of continuing and fast-moving research. This course provides a practical introduction to both the underlying technology and its applications. Applications areas include automated inspection in manufacturing, biomedical image analysis, vehicle guidance, face and gesture recognition, and robotics. The aim of this course is to provide you with an understanding of Computer Vision techniques and their application. Computer Vision (AC41002) is an optional course. It is appropriate for students studying for Single Honours in Computing Science, or who are taking other Honours degrees in Computing with adequate mathematics. A pre-requisite of the Computer Vision course is that you already have a good basic knowledge of computing.
